Bad Wally!

We have been so busy with the gallery that posts have been neglected!  How did a whole month go by???

On Saturday, July 3rd, we took part in the Smalltown USA parade here in Waynesville.  Great parade and where else but a small town would you have a shiny Septic Tank truck as one of the entries...lol.  Wally was wild & wooly in his cowboy hat on top of his trusty steed, Speedy.  Speedy belongs to Wombat Deb and her daughter, Wombette Tori.  Deb & Trish's husbands also were in the parade in Dave's vintage Miata.  The Divine Miz Sugar had her own parade on the porch railing, marching to Stars & Stripes Forever.

Next up we have the Cruise-In next Saturday, July 10th.  That's also the day we open a special exhibit by Waynesville's mayor, Earl J. Isaacs.  Also known as "Hollywood Isaacs", he will be showing his panels of automobile art...airbrushing & pinstriping.  Opening reception is at the gallery on Saturday and the show will be there thru the month of July. We'll be rockin' and rollin' the day away!  Be there or be square!

Baseball score this week is for another outstanding victory for the Waynesville Wombats over the Centerville Centipedes,  9 - 3.  Yeah, Wombats!!!

Memorial Monday

A heartfelt thank you to the heroes lost in battles and to their families as well.  The Wombats salute you.

It was a busy weekend in Waynesville and in the gallery.  Great weather seemed to bring everyone out to enjoy it.  You know what I like about The Wombat.........it isn't just the great art, it's the way it's becoming a "gathering place".  Not just among people we know but new ones who come in and seem to like staying and conversing.  My kinda place!

Plans are underway for an exciting art doll workshop this August with Kevin E. Buntin.  Kevin creates these marvelous beings who inhabit a world he has created.  Be sure to checkout his website...The World of Kevin Buntin  www.kevinbuntin.com
Your faithful scribe here took a 3-week class by him recently for Fantasy Art Dolls and had a terrific time.  I had never attempted doing a doll before so I was like a sponge taking up the directions.  And this is what I came up with........
So, if you are a novice or already into making trolls, faeries, elves, whatevers...you won't want to miss this opportunity.  More details in next blog.

After a rain postponement early in the week, our dear Waynesville Wombats hammered the Springboro Springboks  11 - 2.  Huzzah!! Huzzah!!

Settling In........

The weather was not a big help this week....kept a lot of people in but by the weekend, we had a good time with friends showing up both days to wish us Wombats well. New friends, old friends........a nice mix. On Sunday I took my cockatoo, Sugar, to the gallery with me and she held court. She's such a showoff.  That's Trish holding her.

Before opening, I was walking around, looking at the jewelry we have....Wow!, there's some gorgeous 'stuff' in here. Some would appeal to the warrior queen, Boadicea, some to those with a sense of humor (the Margarita frog comes to mind), horse collectors, wildlife fans, those into beautiful bronze, silver or copper pieces and pretty, pretty glass focal beads. The Wombat jewelry artists are the best!

We are still looking for potters and contemporary/abstract painters. Is that you? Do you know someone?

We are working on our "float" for the 4th of July Parade on the 3rd of July. Wild and Wooly Wally will be riding his trusty steed, Speedy. "Wally Wides Again! Hi-Yo, Speedy!"

Once again, our ball team, the Waynesville Wombats have tasted victory against the Lebanon Lemurs in last night's game.....8-1. Go Wombats!!

Taaaaaaa DAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

We are OPEN!! Had a fantastic Preview Party on April 30th and a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 1st, complete with a Wombat Cake. Our first week went very well and numerous sales were made.

Our baseball team, the Waynesville Wombats were victorious over the Wilmington Weasels in last night's ballgame.... 10 - 2! Yay, Wombats!!

Other news is the future of Scioto Square has a PUB in it! Can't wait to have it open. Thanks, Waynesville voters!

We also have plans in the works for our debut in the 4th of July Parade on the 3rd of July. Plus....July 10th there will be cars from the Classic Car Show in our parking lot. We'll provide the music....any "swing" dancers out there?? Stay tuned for details.

This week, the ol' Bat (me) is working on scheduling Wombat Workshops for the summer. We'll post a schedule here and on Facebook.
